Against a backdrop of expensive marketing campaigns that claim the Cup to be universally loved, people are switching off from racing in droves and sponsors can feel the tide of public opinion turning.
After nearly 40 years, fashion sponsor Myer recently ended their partnership with the Melbourne Cup. Other sponsors should do the same.

The horse racing industry is beyond repair. By saying ‘Nup to the Cup’ this year, and encouraging sponsors to do the same, we can ensure that horses are protected and consign the Cup to the dustbin of history.
